Y’all, I’ve never taken a bus anywhere besides Washington D.C. in eighth grade, which let’s be fair, doesn’t count a whole lot.
I’m now almost 23, so it’s been a few years.
So my friends and I decided to take a bus trip to New York City. None of us would be driving, the fare was cheap, and it was an overnight ride. Perfect right?!
Okay so it really wasn’t bad at all. Besides the uncomfortable seats, lack of sleep and basically no air conditioning on a HOT, HOT, HOT, Memorial Day weekend.
I’m just being real with y’all. If you are planning a trip though, here are some tips to help you make it through the ride.
1. NECK. PILLOW. Or travel pillow, whatever you guys call it. It was a life saver. I don’t think I would have slept at all without it.
2. Plan for the time of year. I made the decision to wear a sweatshirt and wool leggings because I was told the ride would be cold. That was incorrect. It was so stinking hot that I was sweating the entire time. Gross.
3. Guys, I cannot stress this enough. ADVIL PM. I’m not a fan of taking meds by any means but this stuff was a life saver. It made getting the few hours of sleep I did get possible.
Hopefully this short list of tips helps make your next bus trip better.
If you’ve done a bus trip before, leave me a comment telling me one of your tips!
