Since I was a child I have had an obsession with books and notebooks. Like a serious obsession that has only gotten worse with age. For example, I currently have four unopened notebooks sitting beside me as I write this. A little secret, I am very very particular with my notebooks. They cannot have bent pages, smudges, marks or anything like that. If they do -and I hate myself for this- I throw them away…. *Everyone gasps dramatically and shakes their heads at me.*
Back to the reason for writing this blog post: I have always loved to write in these many notebooks, always going from one short story to the next. Let’s be honest, they were all about me falling in love with some made up perfect, buff, shallow man.
Then I didn’t write for a while. I don’t know why but I just didn’t have any motivation. I was honestly probably depressed. Being an adult does that to you. Can I get an amen?
But then I met the most amazing supportive man who has pushed me to follow my dreams.
Well, for the past two years I have had this dream to write a book. The girl who can only write a two page short story is now a woman who wants to write a book. Sounds interesting.
My first response to this dream was like, no no no. I am not the best with my words, meaning I stutter, I don’t know a lot of big words, and I just don’t communicate well to be frank. I pushed the desire pretty deep down and those beautiful beautiful notebooks all sat collecting dust.
But then one day in October, I read a very poorly written book. (We have all been there.) After I finished it, I put it down and just sat there. My first thought after getting past the annoyance of how it ended was: “I could write a book better than that, easily.” Then the wheels started turning, bring back all of those memories and that desire.
So here we are.
After sitting on my hands for a couple months, I finally have that creative desire literally burning super hot.
So, if you would, follow me on my journey to writing my first book. My journey of many typos, grammar mistakes, and lots of google and thesaurus searches.
